A Little Bit About Me!

Welcome!

My name is Caitlin and I am the founder and owner of Wild Dandelion Rentals.  I figured with my first blog post, I would introduce myself, and talk a little bit about why I started Wild Dandelion Rentals.  Going forward I’ll focus more on weddings, event and décor trends, and any exciting new offers, but first I want you to know a little bit more about me!

First off, I’ll admit this is the first blog post I’ve ever written, so please bear with me! I'm still learning!

My name is Caitlin and I was born and raised in St. Joachim.  When I was 18 I moved up to London to attend The University of Western Ontario where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a specialization in Human Resource and Organization. After graduating, my then boyfriend (now husband) and I decided to pick up and do some travelling and we settled in Dublin Ireland for about a year.  We travelled and worked and to this day it is one of the best experiences of my life.  We came back to Canada and lived in Toronto for about 3 years, and finally we decided to come back to Essex County.

We bought a home in-between Leamington and Wheatley and after some home renovations, we moved in and have lived there the past two years with our two rescue dogs, Mitts and Murphy, our cat who showed up in our garage one day, Molly, and about 20 free range chickens.

Back in August of 2018 we got engaged and I started planning our wedding.  I decided to have it in our backyard so I could have the control of putting together exactly what I wanted.  My vision was a tent wedding with about 120 people, but I didn’t want it to seem like a backyard barbecue.  I wanted some elegance, some character, and something people would remember.  So, I did what almost every bride does, and started stalking Pinterest for ideas and the vintage, boho-chic décor kept screaming my name.  The vintage china, the coloured glassware from the 70’s, the brass candlesticks, I wanted it all.  When I went looking for these pieces I found nothing - and I mean nothing in our area.  Already an avid attendee of local auctions, my mom and I decide to step it up and start buying every teacup, crystal glass, silverware and piece of china we could find.  After a year, I had amassed 100s of items and I loved them all.  The day of my wedding the vision came together and it was exactly how I picture it.  I was so happy to hear people they loved the décor and express how they had never seen a wedding like it.

With the wedding over, I was faced with what to do with these hundreds of pieces I had collected over the past year.  Having a background in business, I knew if I wanted to start a rental company, I wanted to do it right.  So I mapped out a specific plan and I put it in motion.  The result was the launch of Wild Dandelion Rentals, a company specializing in vintage and boho-chic décor.  We’re the only local rental company offering the extent of vintage decorations, supplies and tableware for your wedding, baby shower, bridal shower, tea party or special event.  Our items for rent include, tea cups, china, crystal, silverware, centrepieces, candlesticks, coloured glassware, vintage décor, two handmade barn wood bars and one handmade barn wood pop up appetizer/dessert stand. We proudly serve the Windsor Essex and Chatham Kent area with delivery available.

I've jumped in both feet and am immersing myself in the wedding and event world. It's exciting and new, and I'm absolutely loving it. It's the start of an adventure, and I hope it's one people will enjoy as much as I do!

Anyways, thanks for reading my first blog post and I look forward to writing more!

Cheers!

Caitlin
